Clubs

As active members of clubs, students get an opportunity to involve themselves in a plethora of activities all year round. Participation in such events is aimed not only at raising social/environmental awareness but teaches each child essential life skills such as effective time management, leadership, communication and the ability to interact and develop relationships.

Some of the active clubs at Geethaanjali:

INTERACT CLUB

Aims at developing among the students, a concern for the community and creating responsible citizens. Among various events organized and participated in, a few noteworthy ones include contribution to Smile Foundation, blood donation camp on “World Blood Donors’ Day”, organization of organ donation camp in association with Kalyani Kidney Care Centre and contribution of dresses for under-privileged children on Diwali.

PHOTOGRAPHY CLUB

As members of this club, students have the opportunity to watch and review educational films screened by our school. Interested students learn about basic film-making skills in directing, editing and scripting. The objective of this club is to make them aware of a valid career path.

Under the guidance of our staff, students from our movie club have directed short films like ‘Vidhaipom’ (2012) based on Road Safety and Right to Information Act, ‘Valarpom Vathaikapadatha Varunkalathai’ (2013) based on ‘Child Labour’ and many more...

INNOVATIONS CLUB

Students with a keen interest in science get an opportunity to explore and innovate. Members of innovations club have represented Geethaanjali and won awards in numerous state/district level science exhibitions. At the ‘Veettukoru Vignaani 2012’ conducted by Pudhiyathalaimurai in 2012, Geethaanjali senior secondary students K.Sanjay and S.Yogesh bagged the first prize for their innovative idea on reducing smoke from vehicles use calcium hydroxide. ‘Veetuku oru Vingnaani 2013’ first prize was also won by senior secondary students Naveen Kumar. Students participated and won several awards at ‘Bio-Camp’ 2013.

THINK TANK CLUB

The primary objective of this club is to organize and prepare students for participation in inter-school literary competitions as well as Olympiads, PSA and various aptitude and entrance tests. In the last few years, Geethaanjali students have taken part in International Science Olympiad, Math Talent Exam, National wide education and scholarship test (NEST) and The Times Quiz and secured top rank.

ECO CLUB

Aims to create awareness about environmental degradation and steps to prevent exploitation of nature

ART AND CRAFT CLUB

Members of this club learn art appreciation through hands-on experience in various art and craft projects like drawing, painting, tailoring, embroidery and pot-painting. A great deal of emphasis is put on “Art from Waste” that encourages students to create art work from discarded material thus reinforcing the importance of recycling and waste reduction.

COOKERY CLUB

Aimed at encouraging the hidden chef in your child, this club prepares students for participation in culinary competitions.
